Markets were again volatile yesterday with Wall Street ending higher although it pulled back heavily towards the close. In London, there was more rights issue news, and we have important figures across many sectors this morning. Early indications are for a slightly lower open on what should be another busy day for the FTSE 100 index.
US stocks responded to reassuring news on inflation yesterday, with the Labor Department saying CPI rose 0.2% in April after rising 0.3% the previous month, against expectations for a 0.3% increase. There was a late pullback however on the Dow Jones, and in London we saw more fundraising exercises, which may place pressure on the FTSE 100 index as we have another very busy session for news today.
